The Impact You'll Make
As our Dell Unity 680 Subject Matter Expert, you will be the go-to authority for all things related to our Unity XT 680 storage array. You ll take ownership of optimizing capacity, reclaiming space, and ensuring best practices are followed to maintain system health. Your expertise will directly prevent downtime, improve performance, and extend the life of our storage investments, keeping our business running smoothly even under high-demand conditions.
What You'll Do:
- Lead space reclamation strategies for a Dell Unity 680 at 90%+ capacity, with a focus on thick-provisioned LUNs.
- Implement and document best practices for storage provisioning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Manage LUN extensions when required, ensuring minimal disruption to production workloads.
- Oversee snapshot management creation, retention, and deletion to optimize space usage and maintain recovery capabilities.
- Monitor system health and capacity trends, proactively addressing potential bottlenecks before they impact operations.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and backup teams to align storage strategies with business needs.
- Maintain detailed operational runbooks and knowledge base articles for repeatable, high-quality execution.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven expertise with Dell EMC Unity XT 680 storage systems, including Unisphere and CLI management.
- Deep understanding of thick-provisioned LUNs, space reclamation techniques, and storage tiering.
- Hands-on experience with snapshot lifecycle management and performance optimization.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for capacity, performance, and replication issues.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS, SMB) and integration with VMware or Windows/Linux hosts.
- Ability to translate complex storage concepts into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
