Our direct client is looking for a SolarWinds NOC Engineer for a Hybrid Long Term Contract in Newark, NJ
J0B DESCRIPTION:
- Client requires a tool development resource to maintain, update and create tools, alerting mechanisms, dashboards and reports in support of the NOCs mission.
- The Network Operations Center (NOC) is staffed 7x24 and is tasked with Monitoring, Awareness and Notifications of all Technical infrastructure(Network\WIFI\Compute\Application-Services) availability, events and anomalies. Consequently, the NOC requires a tool development resource to maintain, update and create tools, alerting mechanisms, dashboards and reports in support of the NOCs mission.
- System administration as it relates to Tool development, configuration, customization, and training for SolarWinds (UCTeam). Primary areas of expertise included:
-- System administration and configuration of NPM, NTA, NCM,
-- IPAM to manage and monitor network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. in support of the technology infrastructure specific to the support role of the NOC.
-- Configuration Management Repository
- This is an Individual Contributor role; must be fully competent to work under general direction.
- knowledge of business or function for which application is designed (Networks, Network Monitoring, Network Metrics, etc.).
- Integration with ServiceNow and other toolsets preferred.
- Recommend, Design and Integrate monitoring\ alerting solutions within SolarWinds with ServiceNow integration.
- Experience with creating / modifying customized dashboards leveraging Power BI / SolarWinds SQL Tables a must
- Perform requirements gathering necessary to design and build infrastructure / applications enterprise monitoring systems.
- Perform analysis and make recommendations on tools design that meets industry best practice for monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Validate the system for functionality, performance, fault tolerance and operational readiness.
- Work closely with operational support teams such as Network, Windows, and Cyber Security to provide a holistic monitoring solution.
- Execute detailed network / server discovery, device monitoring, topology visualization
- Assist with identifying root cause analysis (RCA) capabilities.
- Identify issues, develop, and maintain processes that address and resolve them, (and be sure to communicate/alert stakeholders as needed).
- Assist to make enhancements (SolarWinds) and troubleshoot issues as they occur.
- Proactively put forward ideas that support operational & project objectives (e.g., development, testing solutions, and tools).
- Maintain runbooks, logs, and records in accordance with ITIL best practices via Service Now.
- Stay on top of state-of-health monitoring and SLA targets.
- Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Preferred skills:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise Monitoring and Observability platforms, including implementation, customization, and operational support.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in SolarWinds Monitoring Solutions (required), including core components, platform architecture, alerting, reporting, and performance optimization.
- Strong hands-on experience integrating and supporting monitoring tools, including:
-- Solar Winds
-- Service Now (event, incident, and workflow integrations)
- Experience with advanced monitoring and correlation platforms such as Datadog and BigPanda (highly desirable).
- Working knowledge of Syslog and SNMP v2/v3,including:
-- Trap forwarding and receiving
-- Configuration, validation, and troubleshooting
- Proven experience in automation of repeatable monitoring tasks, including:
-- Event and alert automation
-- Report generation and scheduling within SolarWinds
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure, applications, and network monitoring domains.
- Experience in configuring and managing:
-- Monitoring profiles
-- Polling policies
-- Thresholds and alert conditions
- Platform administration experience supporting large-scale, enterprise monitoring environments, ensuring stability, scalability, and performance.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate across multiple monitoring tools and integrations in a hybrid environment.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with SolarWinds Platform Administrators, infrastructure teams, and operations stakeholders.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field from an accredited college 4 to 6 years experience directly related to AIOps, IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, and management of infrastructure.
