Category Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Category Analyst in San Marcos, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Reporting:
* Analyze sales performance, pricing, and promotional data across key retail accounts
* Build and maintain retailer-specific reporting templates and dashboards
* Provide insights on trends, account performance, and opportunities for growth

Retail & Account Support:
* Support National Account Managers with data needed for retailer meetings and strategy
* Assist in tracking distribution, velocity, and promotional effectiveness across accounts
* Prepare materials for retailer reviews, including reporting packs and summaries

Forecasting & Business Insights:
* Contribute to sales forecasting and inventory planning through data analysis
* Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities related to product performance and supply
* Help inform pricing, trade spend, and category strategies

Process & Data Management:
* Standardize data processes and reporting structures across accounts
* Ensure accuracy and consistency in data used for internal and external reporting
* Work efficiently within Excel-based environments (no advanced systems required)

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Partner with sales, operations, and leadership to align on reporting needs
* Support ad hoc analysis tied to new product launches, expansion, and retailer requests

REQUIREMENTS:
* 2+ years of experience in data analysis, sales analytics, or category analysis
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) (Michael Walsh/OneNote)
* Experience supporting retail-facing teams or accounts
* Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
* Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in CPG, food and beverage, or retail analytics
* Exposure to grocery/mass retail environments (e.g., Walmart, Kroger, Whole Foods, H-E-B)
* Experience working in a startup or lean team environment

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
