Location: Mont Belvieu, TX/ Houston, TX
Schedule: 5 Dayz on Site
Pay Range: $35-40/hr
Duration: 8 Months (with probability of conversion)
Overview
A leading midstream energy company is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance at a large-scale operations facility. This organization operates a diverse portfolio of energy infrastructure assets and is committed to safe, responsible, and compliant operations.
This role works closely with Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H), Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and internal policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support site compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and company policies
- Manage and maintain air compliance programs, including Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR)
- Prepare and submit semi-annual and annual regulatory reports
- Track and ensure timely completion of repair activities and compliance documentation
- Support water and wastewater compliance, including sampling, lab coordination, and reporting
- Assist in wasste management and remediation activities, including manifests and regulatory tracking
- Ensure compliance with spill prevention (SPCC) requirements and assist with incident response
- Participate in air permitting programs (e.g., Title V and New Source Review)
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies for reporting, inspections, and compliance matters
- Assist with environmental audits, investigations, and corrective actions
- Review operational or engineering changes for environmental impact and permitting needs
- Maintain accurate data, records, and reporting systems
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support environmental compliance initiatives
- Manage large datasets and generate reports using internal systems and tools
- Monitor compliance metrics and proactively address potential issues
- Provide updates on environmental performance, deviations, and regulatory matters
- Support ongoing environmental programs and continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications:
- 1 3 years of experience in:
- Air compliance
- Oil & gas environmental compliance, or
- Environmental consulting (air/gas focus)
- Proficiency in Msft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting)
- Experience extracting and working with data from reporting tools (e.g., business intelligence platforms)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and within a team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in oil & gas or petrochemical industries
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance frameworks
- Experience in environmental consulting or similar roles
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in industrial and outdoor environments under varying conditions
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and performing physical tasks (standing, climbing, kneeling, etc.)
- Must adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
