Position Overview:

The Lead Datacenter Operations/Provisioning Specialist is responsible for overseeing the provisioning, maintenance, and optimization of IT infrastructure within the data center. This role ensures the secure and efficient operation of hardware, software, network systems, and power infrastructure. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to act independently with sound judgment and minimal supervision. The Lead Datacenter Operations/Provisioning Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining a resilient, secure, and high-performing IT infrastructure. This position demands a proactive approach to system provisioning, power and network management, and continuous improvement of data center operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Infrastructure Oversight:
    • Manage and maintain data center infrastructure including servers, storage, and networking equipment.
    • Ensure proper deployment procedures and operational guidelines for major systems.
    • Oversee the installation, configuration, support, maintenance, and recovery of data center systems.
  • Power Management:
    • Monitor and manage power distribution units (PDUs) and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
    • Ensure optimal power usage and redundancy through parallel redundant UPS systems.
    • Coordinate with facilities teams for maintenance
  • Network & Cabling Topologies:
    • Design, implement, and maintain structured cabling systems including Ethernet and fiber optic connections.
    • Manage patch panels, cross-connects, and cable labeling for efficient troubleshooting and scalability.
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards for cable management and network topology design.
  • Provisioning & System Management:
    • Coordinate with vendors to secure support and replacement devices.
    • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software across multiple platforms.
    • Track IT assets and manage lifecycle documentation.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
    • Analyze and resolve high-severity issues, directing corrective actions as needed.
    • Provide technical assistance and training to end users on hardware and software.
    • Communicate problem/resolution statuses to vendors professionally and promptly.
  • Network Operations:
    • Set up and maintain network connections, monitor connectivity and security.
    • Install and configure network equipment including Cisco, Aruba switches/routers, and Palo Alto devices.
    • Create and manage ClearPass policies for MAC and IP address authentication.
  • Security & Backup:
    • Implement data backup and recovery solutions.
    • Maintain security standards and address vulnerabilities proactively.


Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to act independently with sound judgment.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of data center systems, network operations, and power infrastructure.
  • Experience with UPS systems, PDUs, generators, and cooling systems.
  • Proficiency in network cabling topologies and structured cabling standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, and ClearPass technologies.
