About the RoleAs a
Software Engineer on the Collections Engineering team, you will contribute to the modernization and ongoing support of a large-scale, mission-critical legacy application. You'll work on moderately complex engineering initiatives, provide technical expertise in both backend and UI modernization, and collaborate closely with engineering partners to ensure high-quality software delivery.
This role involves migrating a legacy Java Server Faces (JSF) application to
React and supporting the backend written in
Core Java. You will join a collaborative team of ten engineers operating in a Kanban environment with quarterly releases.
What You'll Do- Contribute to moderately complex software engineering projects, including design, development, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Review and evaluate engineering challenges that require thoughtful assessment of multiple factors.
- Support issue resolution and collaborate with team members to meet engineering deliverables and compliance requirements.
- Participate in large-scale planning and contribute to software engineering best practices.
- Support a legacy collections application while contributing to ongoing modernization efforts.
- Work with AI-assisted tools as part of the migration from JSF to React.
- Engage in a hybrid work schedule with predictable onsite expectations.
Required Qualifications- 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent experience through work, consulting, military service, or education.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Java (5-7 years preferred)
- Core Java backend development
- React
- Ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment and support medium-complexity technical initiatives.
Nice to Have- Previous experience working within financial services.
- Exposure to JSF migrations or legacy application modernization.
- Experience supporting production systems in large enterprise settings.
