Job Description
Randstad is seeking a high-caliber Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join a premier client in the Washington, D.C. area.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will act as the servant leader and master facilitator for an Agile Representation Train (ART), driving the delivery of high-value solutions in alignment with enterprise strategy and cascaded OKRs.
You will be responsible for orchestrating large-scale PI Planning events, coaching a diverse group of stakeholders from Scrum Masters to Business Owners and relentlessly optimizing the flow of value through data-driven insights and lean-agile practices.
As the "face" of the ART, you will bridge the gap between strategy and execution, ensuring the train remains predictable, transparent, and focused on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
PI Planning & Preparation: Lead the end-to-end preparation for PI Planning, including ART backlog readiness via WSJF and logistical coordination; facilitate the flagship 2-day in-person planning event.
ART Execution & Sync: Facilitate all critical ART-level syncs (Coach Sync, PO Sync, Architect Sync, System Demos) and track flow metrics such as Velocity, Cycle Time, and ART Predictability.
Strategic Coaching: Utilize powerful questioning to coach Scrum Masters, System Architects, and Product Management; assist Business Owners in assigning business value and understanding their strategic roles.
Flow Optimization: Establish pull systems and value stream mapping to eliminate dependencies and improve the seamless flow of value across the ART.
Relentless Improvement: Drive the ART improvement roadmap using AgilityInsights TeamHealth assessments and the Inspect & Adapt (I&A) process.
Servant Leadership: Foster an environment of mutual influence and psychological safety, supporting team members in decision-making and personal development while applying systems thinking to resolve complex bottlenecks.
Cross-ART Coordination: Collaborate with the Value Management Office (VMO) and other ARTs to synchronize planning and delivery efforts across the enterprise.
Qualifications & Skills
SAFe Expert Certification: Must hold an active SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) 6.0 certification.
Consulting Credentials: Must hold a Scalable Agile Practice Consultant (SPC) 6.0 certification.
Facilitation Specialist: Must be an AgilityInsights Facilitator certified professional.
Public Speaking: Proven ability to command a room and present confidently to large audiences and executive leadership.
Agile Tooling: Proficiency in tracking flow measures and utilizing Lean-Agile transformation tools.
Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of DevOps practices and continuous delivery pipelines.
Location: Ability to work on-site in Washington, D.C. for key events and PI Planning sessions.
