Overview

The Sr. Power BI Engineer is responsible for designing and delivering enterprise Power BI and data solutions that support business KPIs. This role translates requirements into scalable data models, governed datasets, and actionable dashboards. The position also serves as a hands-on working lead, driving delivery standards, mentoring team members, and aligning solutions with enterprise data and reporting strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable, reliable data platforms, including data models, pipelines, and semantic layers to support enterprise reporting needs.
  • Develop and deliver Power BI datasets, dashboards, and KPI-driven reporting aligned to business priorities
  • Engineer and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and SQL to enable consistent and governed data flow
  • Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability across reporting solutions
  • Optimize data models, queries, and pipelines to improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards, including data quality and validation controls
  • Act as a hands-on working lead-guiding developers, reviewing designs, and driving delivery standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and IT teams to translate requirements into actionable insights and reporting solutions
  • Establish and maintain documentation for data architecture, pipelines, and reporting assets to support reuse and supportability
  • Monitor and support production data environments, ensuring system performance, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Drive standardization, reuse, and simplification across data and reporting solutions to enable scale and consistency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • ~9+ years of experience in business intelligence, data engineering, or data warehousing environments
  • Strong expertise in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard/report development
  • Advanced SQL skills with proven experience in data modeling and performance optimization
  • Experience working with the Microsoft data stack (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Server)
  • Proven ability to design and deliver scalable enterprise reporting and data solutions
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (EDW, DataMart, ETL/ELT)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy and quality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and delivering solutions within defined timelines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with other cloud platforms and data technologies.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Azure or related technologies.

Technical Skills
  • Power BI: Dataset design, data modeling, DAX, dashboard development, and governance
  • SQL & Data Platforms: Advanced SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Azure Data Platform: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, and Data Lake
  • Data Modeling: Dimensional modeling (star schema) and enterprise data model design (conceptual, logical, physical)
  • Data Warehousing: EDW, DataMart design, and ETL/ELT data processing
  • Data Integration: Building and managing scalable data pipelines and system integrations.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Development of enterprise reporting, scorecards, and KPI-driven dashboards
  • Data Platform Operations: Performance monitoring, optimization, and support of data environments
  • Migration & Modernization: Experience migrating data from legacy systems to modern cloud-based platforms.
