Field-based Desktop Support Technician supporting multiple sites in the Manvel / south Houston area. This contract-to-hire role is responsible for hands-on IT support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring reliable technology operations across locations. Ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, interacting with end users, and traveling between sites to resolve issues in a dynamic environment.

responsibilities:
Job Responsibilities - Serve as the primary IT support contact for assigned field locations
- Provide hands-on desktop support for hardware, software, and peripherals
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 systems and applications
- Support network connectivity issues (LAN/WAN, VPN, wireless)
- Respond to and resolve support tickets, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution
- Maintain and track IT equipment, inventory, and asset records
- Support IT deployments, upgrades, and site initiatives
- Document issues and resolutions in ticketing and knowledge base systems
- Provide end-user support and basic training on IT tools and systems
- Collaborate with internal IT teams to support infrastructure and operations
qualifications:
Qualifications
- 2+ years of desktop or field IT support experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and Windows environments
- Experience supporting laptops, desktops, and peripheral devices
- Basic knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN, VPN, wireless)
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Willingness to travel daily (~80%) to multiple sites
- TWIC card (or ability to obtain)
Nice to Have
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications
- Experience with ITSM/ticketing tools (e.g., Remedy)
- Experience supporting Cisco networking equipment
- Experience in field-based or industrial environments
