Job ResponsibilitiesSystems Engineer IIThe Department of Administration's (Admin) Office of Technology & Information Services (OTIS) is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join the team. OTIS oversees the state's federated model for implementing, enhancing, and protecting information technology (IT) resources and the utilization of IT shared services across agencies. In this role you will provide enterprise level management of the Shared Services Endpoint and MDM systems. You will provide lead responsibilities of the Entra and Intune environment for multiple tenants. You will also serve in a third-tier support role to assist with workstation and MDM support calls.
This position is onsite in Columbia, SC.
Responsibilities of Systems Engineer II:- Works with architect and manager and various departments to manage Microsoft 365 tenant, including identity, security, compliance, and service configurations.
- Assists with the development of governance policies for Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, lntune, MDM, and Entra ID.
- Ensure alignment with Division of information Services and agency requirements.
- Manages Entra ID (Azure AD), conditional access policies directed by the architecture team. Manages enterprise apps, identity protection, and role-based access.
- Configure and monitor Purview compliance tools, OLP, and retention. Respond to security incidents and coordinate remediation with security teams.
- Exchange Online & Collaboration Platform Administration.
- Lead advanced administration of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, inTune, MDM, and Teams.
- Develop a lifecycle management policy for groups, sites, and collaboration policies.
- Perform operational support, debugging and serve as liaison between support technicians, system administrators and application vendors for escalated support issues.
- Pro-actively research, elevate and implement approved measures to increase security, reliability, and confidentiality of implemented endpoint solutions.
- Pro-actively monitor service desk ticketing system for repetitive endpoint issues and actively coordinate with the service desk and support technicians with implementing system wide solutions.
- Complete other assigned duties as needed. Due to the technical nature of this position, it is designated as Essential Personnel - The employee is required to be in the office as needed during any emergency or weather-related event.
Minimum and Additional Requirements - A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment.
- Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
- At least 3 years' experience administering and supporting enterprise endpoint, mobile device, or identity management technologies.
- Experience should include Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Microsoft 365, or comparable enterprise management technologies.
Additional Requirements:- Knowledge of fundamental computing and networking methodologies and technologies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical skills.
- Working knowledge of management of cloud hosted solutions including Office 365, Azure AAD.
- Candidate must possess working knowledge of SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange, MDM as well as have a strong understanding of the Power Platform.
- Candidate must be able to create and debug automation scripts in various languages including basic batch scripts,powershell, Power BI, Power Query and TSQL.
- Knowledge in CJIS Certification is a requirement.
- Position may be required to work during hazardous weather events and emergency situations.
- Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
- Position requires participation in the on-call program on a rotating basis.
- Position requires on-call shifts and calls back.
- Position may require overnight travel.
- This position may require the employee to work from a remote location beyond the standard 37.5 hour/week and could include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
