Role Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a position based in Westborough, MA. This role involves applying engineering principles to support manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), supplier management, and quality systems, contributing to activities from prototype to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), or Design for X principles.
- Utilize experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, or electronics assembly.
- Work with contract manufacturers and manage supplier relationships.
- Implement quality systems and methodologies including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement principles.
- Use CAD software for design tasks and interpret technical drawings.
- Apply understanding of statistical process control and capability analysis.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
Technical Skills: Experience with CAD software, technical drawing interpretation, and an understanding of statistical process control are necessary for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with robotics, mechatronics, or electromechanical systems manufacturing.
- Experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from prototype to mass production.
- Knowledge of test engineering principles and automated test equipment development.
- Experience with failure analysis techniques including FMEA, 8D, and root cause corrective action.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and smart manufacturing systems.
- Experience working in global manufacturing environments.
- Project management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $39.00 and $49.00 per hour. Specific compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
