Overview
We are seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer with a strong focus on infrastructure to design, implement, and operate modern cloud platforms. In this role, you will lead and collaborate on cloud infrastructure initiatives that ensure scalability, reliability, and security across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud environments. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to support business-critical systems and drive innovation through strategic cloud architecture.
This position requires candidates to be based in the Columbus, OH area and able to work in a hybrid capacity.
Responsibilities

Establish best practices for implementing and operating secure, scalable cloud-based solutions across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.

Advise on and implement architectural designs for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Lead research and analysis efforts to identify solutions for complex business and technical challenges related to cloud infrastructure.

Continuously improve reporting, monitoring, and automation processes.

Provide expert guidance and hands-on support during the deployment and operation of cloud solutions, including troubleshooting and performance optimization.

Partner with business stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions align with organizational goals and compliance standards.

Apply strategic thinking to complex technical challenges, balancing innovation, risk, and business impact.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, policies, and training materials.

Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance and cost efficiency.

Participate in on-call rotations and incident resolution, analyzing root causes and implementing preventive measures.
Qualifications

7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with expertise in Microsoft Azure (Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification strongly preferred).

Strong knowledge of other major cloud computing platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft 365.

Hands-on experience with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.

Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Bicep, or CloudFormation.

Deep understanding of IaC best practices, modularization, and version control workflows.

Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks (ISO 27001/27017/27018, NIST, FedRAMP, GDPR) and experience implementing compliant cloud architectures.

Strategic thinker with a practical, delivery-focused mindset.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and mentor peers in cloud technologies and practices.

Proven skill in optimizing performance, cost, and resource utilization in cloud environments.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 architecture, including expertise in using Entra for privileged access management within cloud platforms.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience required.

Certifications in AWS and Google Cloud are a plus.
