Role Description
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to play a foundational role in the Video Design team's design enablement process. This is a high-impact position at the intersection of mobile craft, design systems rigor, and the emerging frontier of AI-assisted design workflows.
You will be a central force in how our design system is built, documented, and scaled across iOS and Android platforms - defining components, authoring usage guidelines, and establishing the standards that allow product and engineering teams to ship consistent, high-quality video product experiences. Equally important, you will help lead our team's adoption of AI-powered design tools and agentic workflows, identifying where these technologies can accelerate quality rather than compromise it.
This position starts as a contract engagement with a path to full-time conversion based on performance and organizational fit. You will be considered a subject matter expert for mobile platform design and a visible enabler of craft quality across the Video product organization.
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Product Design & Enablement
Collaborate with UX designers in the design enablement process to create mockups, annotated wireframes, user flows, and information architecture to support product requirements and communicate design intent clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Build interactive prototypes for user testing and developer handoff using tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, etc.
Integrate UX best practices and user-centered design (UCD) process methods into solution development, from early ideation through launch.
Partner with product and engineering teams to design experiments, new features, and improvements for video applications across iOS and Android platforms.
Lead design reviews, wireframe critiques, and brainstorming sessions that raise the quality bar across the Video Design team.
Mentor junior and mid-level designers in mobile craft, platform conventions, systems thinking, and responsible AI tool use.
Organize files and adhere to all established design patterns, actively contributing to their improvement and documentation.
Design Systems & Component Ownership
Lead the definition, documentation, and governance of mobile design system components for iOS and Android within the Video Design team - including component anatomy, usage guidelines, behavior specs, accessibility annotations, and platform-specific variants.
Author and maintain comprehensive component documentation that serves both designers and engineers - including interaction states, edge cases, token mapping, and do/don't guidance.
Own and evolve the Video Design Figma component library, including variable/token architecture, auto-layout standards, and library versioning practices.
Partner with engineering to ensure design system components are accurately implemented, establishing a feedback loop between design intent and built output.
Skills & Requirements
Ability to demonstrate UI and UX design skills via a strong portfolio featuring shipped native iOS and Android work.
Deep familiarity with platform-specific nomenclature, conventions, and guidelines (Apple HIG, Google Material 3).
Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to a mobile design system - including component definition, documentation, and Figma library management.
Experience writing structured component documentation: anatomy, usage guidelines, interaction states, edge cases, and accessibility specs.
Hands-on experience with Figma variables, tokens, and auto-layout as the foundation for scalable component architecture.
Working familiarity with AI-assisted design tools (e.g. Figma Make, Kiro, etc.) and a thoughtful point of view on where they add value in a professional design workflow.
Proven experience with user-centered design (UCD) process methods applied to digital applications from concept to launch.
Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Excellent communication and presentation skills - comfortable presenting and selling design ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive adoption of standards without direct authority.
Solid understanding of UX best practices and mobile accessibility standards (WCAG, iOS/Android accessibility APIs).
Bachelor's Degree in Design, Art, Media, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience.
7+ years of UI, UX, and/or product design experience in a professional setting.
5+ years of experience specifically designing for native iOS and/or Android mobile applications.
3+ years of hands-on experience with design systems, including component documentation and Figma library ownership.
Proficiency in Figma (required), including variables, tokens, components, and library management.
Experience with prototyping tools such as ProtoPie or Figma Make.
Experience with project estimation and planning or facilitating user research and usability testing.
