Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking an OpenShift Staff Engineer. This is a contract role for 3-6 months and sits remote in the U.S.

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced OpenShift Platform Engineer to join a Platform Engineering team supporting a large-scale enterprise container platform environment. This role will focus on the administration, support, maintenance, and optimization of Red Hat OpenShift 4.x environments, with a strong emphasis on platform operations, deployment automation, storage management, and application onboarding. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a background in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud Engineering, or Kubernetes Administration who enjoys working in enterprise-scale OpenShift environments.

Key Responsibilities:
* Administer and support enterprise Red Hat OpenShift 4.x platforms
* Onboard and support new applications within the OpenShift environment
* Perform platform upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities
* Manage and maintain OpenShift operators
* Support and troubleshoot deployment automation workflows using ArgoCD
* Administer and support Portworx storage environments
* Diagnose and resolve platform, container, and application-related issues
* Collaborate with engineering, application, and infrastructure teams to ensure platform stability and reliability
* Participate in project planning, operational meetings, and platform initiatives
* Support scheduled maintenance windows and occasional after-hours upgrade activities

REQUIREMENTS:
* Hands-on experience administering and supporting Red Hat OpenShift 4.x
* Strong Kubernetes and container platform operations experience in enterprise environments
* Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps-based deployment methodologies
* Experience administering or supporting Portworx storage solutions
* Experience troubleshooting and supporting production OpenShift/Kubernetes environments
* Experience working in enterprise infrastructure and cloud environments
* Strong understanding of platform operations, automation, and application lifecycle management

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience performing OpenShift upgrades, patching, and platform migrations
* Experience managing and maintaining OpenShift operators
* Experience onboarding enterprise applications to container platforms
* Experience with cloud-native technologies and modern platform engineering practices
* Background in Platform Engineering, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or Kubernetes Administration
* Ability to support occasional after-hours maintenance activities

Preferred Certifications:
* Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
* Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
* Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
* Recent hands-on OpenShift 4.x administration experience
* Direct experience with ArgoCD and Portworx
* Enterprise-scale Kubernetes/OpenShift support
* Participation in OpenShift upgrades, platform migrations, or large-scale application onboarding efforts
* Strong operational and troubleshooting capabilities in production environments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
