MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree. Five years of experience in the repair, troubleshooting, testing, installation and maintenance of voice, data, and wireless communication equipment is required. A high school diploma or GED along with additional experience in the repair, troubleshooting, testing, installation and maintenance of voice, data, and wireless communication equipment may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a valid driver license.
PREFERENCES
Preferred certification include CCNA and CCNP Collaboration.

Miami-Dade County''s Communication, Information & Technology Department (CITD) is recruiting a full-time IT Senior Telecommunications Technician to support the Telephone Operations Workgroup within the Network and Transport Division. This position involves advanced skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex telecommunications infrastructure within a centralized telecommunications environment. Employees in the class are responsble for the installation, configuration, and support of telecommunications systems, including Cisco Call Manager, Unity Connection, Jabber, Webex, and Cisco endpoints. The role also provides broader support for LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, CCTV and VOlP infrastructure, and assists with the termination and testing of cable connections supporting VoIP, legacy phone systems, and network devices. Duties include performing routing maintenance and troublehsooting of telcommunications hardware and software to ensure minimal downtime and reliable system performnce. Work requires a strong understanding of technical diagrams, schematics and configuration documentation.
The IT Senior Telecommunications Technician ensures optimal system performance through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, firmware management, and collaboration with cross-funtional IT teams. Employees exercise independent judgment in resolving technical issues while adhering to established standards and best practices.
Supervision is received from atechnical suprior who reviews work for compliance with established specifications, standards, and the satisfactory functioning of installed, repaired, or maintained equipment.
