Technical Product Owner / Technical Documentation Lead

We are not accepting C2C or 1099 arrangements.

Location: Charlotte, NC (300 S. Brevard Street) or Irving, TX
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Employment Type: Contract (12 months with strong extension potential up to 24 months)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Product Owner with a strong background in technical documentation, Agile delivery, and cross-functional product collaboration. In this role, you will drive documentation strategy and execution for enterprise technology products while partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Program Managers, and business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines technical communication expertise with Product Owner experience, enabling them to translate complex technical concepts into scalable, user-centric content while supporting Agile product delivery.
Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Agile Delivery
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineering teams, and business stakeholders to define product and documentation priorities.
  • Create, refine, and manage user stories, tasks, and documentation-related backlog items.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and PI Planning.
  • Serve as an advocate for end users by ensuring documentation and product experiences are intuitive, accessible, and effective.
  • Support roadmap execution and delivery planning across multiple initiatives.
Documentation Strategy & Content Management
  • Own the end-to-end documentation strategy for assigned product and platform areas.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including:
    • User guides
    • Knowledge base articles
    • Process documentation and job aids
    • FAQs
    • Release and support documentation
  • Ensure content remains current, accurate, and aligned with product enhancements and releases.
  • Manage documentation repositories using platforms such as Confluence and SharePoint.
  • Establish governance processes that promote consistency, scalability, and content reuse.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Owners, Engineers, Application Managers, Program Managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and validate technical accuracy.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Drive alignment across teams to ensure documentation supports operational and business objectives.
Technical Communication
  • Translate complex technical concepts, APIs, and system functionality into clear, concise, user-friendly documentation.
  • Create content tailored to diverse audiences, including developers, engineers, administrators, and business users.
  • Apply user-centered design principles to improve content usability and adoption.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in technical writing, technical documentation, product support, project delivery, or related disciplines.
  • 2+ years of experience serving as a Product Owner within an Agile environment.
  • Experience working within product development, product management, Scrum, or Agile delivery models.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Technical Skills
  • Experience working with complex technical systems, applications, and enterprise platforms.
  • Familiarity with API documentation and developer-focused content.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong understanding of documentation lifecycle management and knowledge management practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting developer tools, platform engineering teams, or enterprise technology products.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications such as:
    • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
    • Scrum Certification (CSM or equivalent)
    • PMP
    • PMBOK
    • SDLC-related certifications

Location Preference: Charlotte, NC (primary preference) or Irving, TX. Hybrid work arrangement requires onsite presence three days per week.
