EPS Engineering Lead
Role Summary

Lead Enterprise Payment Services (EPS) for SCMS and drive architecture, delivery, operational excellence, and risk management under durable employee-led ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own EPS roadmap, architecture, and delivery across payment processing, reconciliation, exception handling, and downstream integrations.
  • Set standards for reliability, auditability, observability, and change control in high-volume transactional environments.
  • Design and oversee scalable microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, ESRE, Operations, and engineering stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and manage release readiness.
  • Lead production support, root-cause analysis, incident management, and operational improvements.
  • Drive modernization efforts for APIs, integrations, monitoring, and platform engineering practices.
  • Coach and mentor engineering teams, manage vendors/contractors, and transition critical knowledge into internal teams.
  • Collaborate with QE and SRE teams to improve automation, release validation, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience building or operating enterprise-scale platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical leadership, staff engineering, or engineering management roles.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Java / backend engineering
    • Microservices architecture
    • REST APIs
    • Event-driven systems
    • Distributed systems
    • SQL and transactional systems
    • Cloud-native development
    • Observability and monitoring tools
  • Experience working in payment systems, settlements, reconciliation, or other mission-critical transactional domains.
  • Strong understanding of production engineering, scalability, reliability engineering, and incident response processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, or Azure.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Experience with enterprise integrations and workflow orchestration.
  • Exposure to high-volume commerce or supply-chain platforms.
