Job description:

Under direct supervision, provides management information system user support on a continuing basis either by phone or site visit. Troubleshoots end-user problems.

 

Qualified Candidates Must Have Their Own Equipment:

-High Speed Internet Access

-Ability to remote in to DCH systems via WebLink

-Candidates will work remote, but must be local to the Atlanta area.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Community (DCH) Accessibility Remediation Technician will contribute to an agency wide project to remediate accessibility issues in static documents such as PDFs, Word Documents, PowerPoint Presentations, etc. The selected individual will receive on-the-job training, established procedures, and on-going guidance and oversight from project supervisor.  This position is well suited for an individual with general IT skills, strong computer proficiency, good attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn and consistently use new software tools and technical procedures.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Participate in on-the-job training related to PDF accessibility, document remediation procedures, and the software tools used by the organization.
  2. Learn and use specialized software to identify and correct accessibility issues within PDF documents.
  3. Review assigned PDF files and perform remediation tasks according to established procedures and instructions.
  4. Modify document structure and accessibility elements such as tags, headings, lists, reading order, tables, links, images, and document properties as directed by established procedures.
  5. Use automated accessibility-checking tools to identify potential issues and verify completed work.
  6. Perform basic manual quality checks of remediated documents.
  7. Coordinate with the agency webmaster to upload the accessible document and replace existing non-accessible documents.
  8. Work with the project supervisor to resolve questions, review unfamiliar issues, and determine how complex documents should be handled.
  9. Escalate documents or accessibility issues that fall outside established procedures or require advanced remediation.
  10. Follow documented workflows and consistently apply established remediation standards.
  11. Maintain accurate records of assigned documents, work completed, remediation status, and any issues requiring additional review.
  12. Manage and organize electronic files in accordance with established file-naming, storage, and document-control procedures.
  13. Process a high volume of documents while maintaining accuracy and meeting established productivity expectations.
  14. Incorporate feedback from the supervisor and quality-review process into subsequent work.
  15. Protect confidential or sensitive information contained within organizational documents.
  16. Perform other related technical and project-support duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. General knowledge of computers, software applications, file management, and common office technology.
  2. Demonstrated ability to learn new software applications and technical processes.
  3. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.
  4. Ability to follow written procedures and step-by-step technical instructions.
  5. Ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented computer work accurately and consistently.
  6. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  7. Ability to manage multiple files and assignments while maintaining accurate work records.
  8. Ability to communicate questions, problems, and progress effectively with a supervisor.
  9. Ability to work independently after receiving training while seeking guidance when appropriate. 
  10. Experience using Equidox PDF Remediation Software
  11. Experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro or other PDF editing software.
  12. Experience with document processing, data entry, records management, quality assurance, or other high-volume production-oriented work.
  13. Familiarity with digital accessibility concepts, assistive technology, or accessibility standards.
