Project Manager – Facility IT Readiness
Location: Appleton, MN (onsite)
Job Type: 4-month renewable contract
Pay Rate: $70 per hour
Start Date: Early May
Schedule: Full-time, standard business hours
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the IT readiness and activation of a new facility currently under construction. This role is fully onsite and focused on making sure all IT and low-voltage infrastructure is installed correctly, on schedule, and to required standards.
This is a hands-on role, not a desk-only project position. The right person will be comfortable spending most of their time on an active site, working directly with contractors, validating completed work, and holding vendors accountable. A construction-savvy PM with solid IT knowledge will be most successful in this role.
The Project Manager will oversee all activities related to facility IT readiness, including network cabling, fiber, and related infrastructure. A major responsibility will be running daily morning and afternoon stand-up meetings with vendors to set expectations, review progress, document gaps, and ensure work is being completed as planned.
This role also requires real-time quality checks. Instead of relying solely on vendor updates, the Project Manager will personally verify that installations are complete, functional, and meet standards. Daily reporting, documentation, and issue escalation are key parts of the job, with the goal of preventing rework and delays later in the project.
The Project Manager will work closely with internal IT leadership to ensure the environment is ready for handoff and that engineering teams are not forced to redo or clean up incomplete vendor work.
Experience required for this role includes:
- Ten or more years of project management experience in IT, infrastructure, or facilities environments
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage systems in large facilities or enterprise construction projects
- Experience managing vendors performing cabling, fiber, or network installs
- Ability to run structured stand-up meetings and enforce accountability
- Strong understanding of basic IT infrastructure concepts and sequencing
- Comfort working onsite full-time in an active construction or facility activation environment
Nice-to-have experience includes work on new facility buildouts, large IT deployments, or regulated environments, as well as formal project management certifications.
This role offers the opportunity to stand up a facility from the ground up, play a highly visible role in a critical project, and take real ownership of outcomes. It is ideal for a PM who prefers being close to the work and driving execution rather than managing from a distance.
