Job Title: Automation Engineering Technician - Power Systems
Location: Eagle Mountain, UT
Duration: 24 Months

About the Role
Join a cutting-edge power innovation team supporting commissioning and startup of advanced energy infrastructure. As an Automation Engineering Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring reliable system integration, testing, and operational readiness across power generation, substations, and energy storage systems.

What You'll Do
  • Support commissioning, startup, and system turnover for automation systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI-related issues in real time
  • Assist with FAT/SAT activities, systemization, and punch-list resolution
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and test protocols
  • Validate control systems, startup/shutdown logic, and alarm management
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams
  • Support cybersecurity, system patching, and hardware lifecycle activities
  • Prepare technical reports, readiness reviews, and documentation packages
  • Drive continuous improvement in commissioning processes

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 8+ years of experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, commissioning, or industrial automation
  • Strong knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI systems
  • Experience with commissioning workflows, system turnover, and documentation
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and field reporting tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Experience with energy systems such as BESS, substations, or power generation
  • Knowledge of automation tools like AssetCentre or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with industry standards (NFPA 70E, IEEE, NERC)
  • Experience leading commissioning activities or supporting system integration

Work Environment
  • Field-based role supporting active commissioning and startup environments
  • Work in industrial settings with a strong focus on safety and compliance
