We are seeking a Senior ETL Developer IV to lead the design, development, and operational optimization of high-volume, cloud-native data pipelines within our enterprise AWS environment. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional architecture and platform teams at our corporate Willis Tower location, developing scalable data ingestion, cleansing, and transformation solutions that power strategic enterprise analytics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the architectural design, implementation, deployment, and optimization of backend ETL data services.
- Develop complex data transformation workflows and automation scripts using Python, PySpark, and AWS Glue.
- Author, debug, and fine-tune advanced SQL queries and analyze database performance across AWS RDS Aurora/MySQL.
- Build resilient, event-driven workflows utilizing AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, Lambda, SQS, and SNS.
- Manage CI/CD deployment automation and Infrastructure as Code using Harness, YAML, and AWS CloudFormation.
- Perform root cause analysis on production data incidents, monitor pipeline telemetry, and participate in incident support during critical outages.
- Establish development standards, technical documentation, and quality best practices across all ETL lifecycles.
qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
6+ years of experience in data engineering and ETL development, including data cleansing, transformation, profiling, and scheduling.
6+ years of advanced, expert-level SQL development and performance optimization experience.
3-4 years of hands-on programming experience using Python or PySpark/Glue for large-scale data processing.
3-4 years of production experience across AWS services, including AWS Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, and RDS MySQL.
Strong background in Big Data architecture, design patterns, and distributed computing models.
Practical experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Harness, CloudFormation, or YAML.
Ability to work on-site at the Chicago office on alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with flexibility for off-hours incident troubleshooting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior leadership experience guiding technical ETL or data engineering teams.
Hands-on implementation experience with Apache Iceberg table formats.
Familiarity with modern observability and monitoring suites such as Dynatrace or DataDog.
