Job#: 3019008 Job Description: Associate Communications EngineerLocation: Houston, TX (onsite)Travel: Up to 50% - TX only (West and South TX)Role: Permanent / Direct Hire- The Associate Communications Engineer will support the design and implementation of communications systems across wireless, microwave, badge access, CCTV, and other infrastructure technologies. This is a hands-on learning role ideal for entry level candidates in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering. The engineer will work closely with senior engineers and experienced technicians to develop designs, interface with field teams, and manage project execution. While technical depth is not expected, curiosity, adaptability, and strong communication skills are essential.
High-Level Individual Duties:- Assist in designing communications systems based on project requirements and field drawings
- Use Visio to create basic system diagrams and interpret CAD drawings
- Collaborate with field technicians and senior engineers to ensure proper implementation
- Participate in project meetings and interface with internal and external stakeholders
- Travel to field sites (especially in Permian Basin) to support design validation and Q/A
- Learn and grow into microwave and wireless system design responsibilities
- Contribute to documentation and standards development under mentorship
- Support FCC/FAA compliance tasks as needed
Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools):
Please note that the Must Haves below are catered for candidates with and without experience, either is acceptable Entry Level No Working Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering
- Familiarity with signal processing, digital communications, and telecom concepts from coursework
- Capstone project with a telecom or systems integration component
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with technicians, leads, and external vendors
- Basic proficiency in Visio; ability to read CAD drawings
- Willingness to travel, especially to West/South Texas regions
Junior-Mid level Working Experience: - Bachelor's in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering
- 1-3 years in at least 3 of the following: wireless, voice, SCADA, badge access, satellite, microwave, CCTV, data networks
- Proven experience in communications system design and integration
- Strong project management capabilities
- Proficiency in Visio or CAD for system diagrams
- Effective communication and self-management skills
Nice-to-Haves:- Experience with communications path profile software
- Familiarity with FCC ULS website
- PMP certification
- FCC license
- CCNA certification
