Position Summary

The HR Generalist (HRIS & Payroll Focus) is responsible for executing and optimizing human resources systems, payroll processing, and data integrity across the organization. This role serves as the secondary owner of HR data, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll execution while supporting broader HR operations.

This position operates at the intersection of HR, Finance, and Operations-requiring strong analytical capability, process discipline, and a high level of confidentiality.

Requirements:
Key Responsibilities

HRIS Administration & Data Integrity

  • Serve as the secondary administrator for the company's HRIS (e.g., Paylocity)
  • Maintain employee records, job data, compensation changes, and organizational structures
  • Ensure data accuracy through audits, reporting, and validation processes
  • Take part in managing system workflows (onboarding, offboarding, status changes)
  • Partner with IT and vendors on system updates, enhancements, and issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards and reporting for leadership

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly or weekly payroll accurately and on time
  • Audit payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws (including FLSA)
  • Reconcile payroll reports and coordinate with Finance on funding and journal entries
  • Manage garnishments and benefit deductions
  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and internal policies
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit readiness for payroll and HR records
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g., payroll audits, benefits audits)
  • Assist with ACA reporting, EEO reporting, and other regulatory requirements

HR Operations Support

  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes with system accuracy and timeliness
  • Assist with benefits administration (enrollment, qualifying life events, data updates)
  • Support performance management cycles from a systems and documentation standpoint
  • Provide reporting and analytics to support workforce planning and decision-making

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR and payroll processes through automation
  • Lead or support HRIS optimization projects and system implementations
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for HRIS and payroll processes
  • Drive continuous improvement aligned with operational scalability

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5+ years of HR experience with hands-on HRIS and payroll responsibility
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll practices and wage/hour compliance
  • Experience with HRIS platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Paycom, or Paylocity
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (data analysis, audits, reporting)
  • High attention to detail and strong data integrity mindset
