MES/SCADA Support Engineer

Location: Hybrid (Chicago Area)
Travel: 50-60%

Overview

TEKsystems is seeking a skilled MES/SCADA Support Engineer to support and enhance manufacturing execution and automation systems. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining system uptime, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring reliable integration between manufacturing systems and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance MES/SCADA systems (Rockwell FactoryTalk)
• Support and program Allen-Bradley PLCs
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot SCADA/MES network topologies
• Integrate software with hardware systems, including system upgrades and redundancy configurations
• Execute system outages and support remote access via VPN/RDP
• Manage and support SQL databases, including queries and administration
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and plant stakeholders
• Provide on-call support and assist during scheduled production downtimes
• Proactively identify and resolve system reliability issues

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk
• 3+ years of experience with SCADA systems
• 3+ years of experience with electrical networking and remote access tools (VPN/RDP)
• 3+ years of Allen-Bradley PLC programming
• 1+ year of SQL administration and query experience
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, domain administration, and electrical systems
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL Server administration
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming or VBA
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience working in manufacturing environments

Travel Expectations

• 50-60% travel required (primarily 2-3 days per trip)
• Occasional travel up to one week
• Travel primarily to:
  • Broadview, IL (Chicago area)
  • Dyersburg, TN
  • Lexington, KY
• Flexible scheduling - travel driven by project needs
• All travel expenses covered (including optional TSA PreCheck)

Work Environment

• Hybrid role with standard hours (Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM)
• On-call availability outside business hours required
• Initial 2-month onboarding/training period with Manufacturing Systems Analyst

This role is critical to maintaining system uptime across manufacturing operations. System outages can cost the business up to $150,000 per hour, making this position essential to operational continuity and success.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
