Summary

Our client is seeking a mid-level Network Administrator. This role blends network administration and engineering, with a strong emphasis on being customer-facing. You'll work directly with business stakeholders to understand operational needs, translate them into technical solutions, and support hands-on network infrastructure initiatives across multiple sites.
If you enjoy balancing technical execution with business collaboration, this is a great opportunity to make a visible impact within a manufacturing environment.

Schedule & Logistics

  • Onsite: Monday-Thursday | Remote: Fridays
  • On-call: 1 week/month (minimal call volume)
  • Travel: ~50-60% between nearby plants (all within ~45 minutes)
    • Locations include Plymouth, St. Cloud, Kiel, Hilbert, and Elkhart Lake
    • Mileage reimbursement provided (outside normal commute)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2 network support, troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN/WLAN, voice, and connectivity issues
  • Administer and maintain Cisco network infrastructure (routers, switches, wireless)
  • Partner with engineering and facilities teams to design and build MDF/IDF telecom rooms
  • Coordinate structured cabling (fiber & copper) projects including installation, testing, labeling, and documentation
  • Support network deployments and cutovers for plant and office environments
  • Assist with wireless deployments, including site surveys and performance validation in manufacturing settings
  • Deploy and support paging systems and collaborate with AV vendors
  • Manage telephony systems (Cisco CUCM, Microsoft Teams Phone)
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow change management processes
  • Participate in on-call rotation and ongoing infrastructure support

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of network administration and deployment experience
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VLANs)
  • Experience with Cisco technologies (Catalyst, Nexus, CUCM)
  • Ability to read engineering/facility drawings and translate into network plans
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling standards (fiber & copper)
  • Experience coordinating MDF/IDF buildouts and vendor-led installations
  • Familiarity with wireless site survey tools (Ekahau or similar)
  • Experience supporting telephony systems (Cisco or Teams Voice)
  • Exposure to industrial/OT networking environments is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and vendor coordination skills

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Paging system design/implementation in manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of PLC environments, AGVs/AMRs, or OT segmentation (Level 2/3)
  • Certifications such as CCNA or CCNP

What Makes This Role Unique

  • High visibility with business stakeholders-not just a back-end role
  • Mix of hands-on engineering and strategic collaboration
  • Opportunity to work across multiple sites and technologies
  • Clear path to full-time conversion

Ideal Candidate

Someone who is technically strong but also personable-able to communicate clearly with non-technical users, manage vendors, and take ownership of infrastructure projects from planning through execution.
