Role: Senior Process Engineer - EDI Analyst
W2 Contract-to-Hire: 12 Months
Location: Primarily Remote
- Must be able to work 2-3 days per month at 6100 Merriweather Drive, Columbia, MD 21044 office
- Must reside in DC, Maryland or Virginia
Pay Rate: $52.96/hour on W2 - All inclusive
Overview:
Work with a leading firm in the healthcare industry supporting a critical federal employee claims processing platform. As a Process Engineer on the FEP Bridge Support team, you will act as a key tier-one technical resource ensuring the reliable, continuous operation of an application utilized by major health plans nationwide. This operational role focuses on live production monitoring, incident analysis, and technical coordination to ensure massive daily claims processing and payment cycles finish successfully.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform active morning and daily production monitoring of batch processing cycles via Jenkins pipelines and Dynatrace alerting tools.
Identify, log, and drive the resolution of application incidents, following structured workbooks to notify appropriate technical partners.
Track, analyze, and resolve data issues related to health insurance claim inputs, specifically handling EDI 837 transactions and Triple 9 error logs.
Execute foundational database queries in SQL or Oracle environments to troubleshoot claims discrepancies and process failures.
Provide operational support during un-planned technical incidents, coordinating across cross-functional teams to minimize downtime.
Update operational documentation and refine fine-tuning rules for environment monitoring alerts.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (covering off-hours and weekends roughly 5 to 6 days per month) to support environment stability.
Required Qualifications:
5 to 7 years of professional experience in an IT Production Support, EDI Analyst, or Operations environment.
Direct domain knowledge within the healthcare industry specifically focused on healthcare claims processing.
Strong technical proficiency with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards, with mandatory hands-on experience handling EDI 837 transactions and Triple 9 error responses.
Strong capabilities with databases, including the ability to run basic queries and analyze statements using SQL, Oracle, or similar database engines.
Proven experience following technical runbooks or workbooks to manage, escalate, and triage application incidents.
Full scheduling flexibility to participate in mandatory, rotating weekend and off-hours on-call coverage.
Must live within commuting distance of the DMV area to support monthly hybrid office requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior professional experience working directly with Blue Cross Blue Shield plans or highly similar nationwide healthcare plan architectures.
Practical exposure to monitoring or deployment applications such as Dynatrace, Jenkins pipelines, or Prometheus.
General knowledge or familiarity with EDI 835 payment processing transactions.
