NCPDP Developer (Professional Level):
Labor Category Alignment: Professional (equivalent to mid-level developer, typically 5 8+ years experience)
Position Summary
The NCPDP Developer will support development and enhancement of pharmacy transaction processing systems aligned with federally mandated NCPDP and HIPAA standards. This role contributes to system design, development, integration, and testing across MMIS subsystems supporting pharmacy claims adjudication and EDI transaction processing.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain application components supporting NCPDP standards (F6, Batch v15, Subrogation v10)
- Support pharmacy claims adjudication logic and system enhancements
- Participate in EDI transaction development, mapping, and integration
- Perform SQL/Oracle database development and optimization
- Support integration testing (SIT), defect resolution, and production support
- Collaborate with BAs in JAD sessions and technical design discussions
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and program specifications
- Support high-volume transaction processing and performance tuning
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of application development experience
- 3+ years of C programming experience
- 3+ years working with SQL and Oracle databases
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare or pharmacy systems
- Experience with pharmacy claims processing or claims engine logic
- Exposure to EDI transaction processing frameworks
- Experience working within multi-system integration environments
Desired Qualifications
- 7 8+ years of relevant development experience
- Hands-on experience with NCPDP standards (F6, D.0, Batch, or SCRIPT)
- Experience with Medicaid MMIS or payer systems
- Experience with HIPAA X12 transactions (e.g., 270/271 eligibility)
- Familiarity with Coordination of Benefits (COB) and subrogation workflows
- Experience with EDI platforms (e.g., translator frameworks, EDI+ type solutions)
- Experience supporting large-scale modernization or regulatory compliance projects
