Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operationalize ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Databricks for manufacturing data and analytics use cases. This role will focus on the scalable ingestion, transformation, and delivery of trusted data products for reporting, analytics, and AI/ML solutions. The position involves modernizing legacy data pipelines into cloud-native Databricks patterns, utilizing governed data models and CI/CD automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines in Azure Databricks.
- Implement ingestion and transformation pipelines for structured and semi-structured data from manufacturing and enterprise systems.
- Build reusable Bronze, Silver, and Gold data pipelines and help establish scalable medallion architecture patterns.
- Develop reusable frameworks for ETL/ELT, data quality, schema evolution, and curated data products.
* Partner with architecture, product, and manufacturing teams to implement data pipelines using Python, Scala, Spark, SQL, and Databricks.* Build CI/CD automation for Databricks data products, including code validation and deployment workflows.* Improve the performance, cost efficiency, and reliability of Spark and Databricks workloads.* Mentor other engineers and help raise the team's engineering maturity in Databricks and CI/CD.Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
Experience: Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data platforms in cloud environments is necessary. Candidates should have experience working across architecture, product, and business teams to deliver production data pipelines.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and Databricks for data engineering is required. Experience with Azure Databricks, including notebooks, jobs/workflows, Unity Catalog, and production deployment patterns is needed. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub-based workflows is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Scala, Java, Azure Event Hub, Kafka, or Pulsar.
- Experience with DLT, Auto Loader, and structured streaming in Databricks.
- Experience with monitoring, observability, and support operations for production platforms.
- Familiarity with manufacturing data, plant-floor systems, or industrial telemetry.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.
Compensation & Benefits
A pay rate of $76.00 per hour is offered for this position. This employer also offers a benefits package to eligible employees.
