About the Role
CAVA is seeking a Data Analyst (Contract) to support our Finance (FP&A) organization by building analytical assets, transforming financial data, and partnering closely with our data product team. This analyst will play a critical role in enabling better forecasting, planning, and performance reporting through high-quality analytics and data products.
This is a highly collaborative role within our Finance Scrum Team, working alongside one full-time analyst and a broader six-person agile team as it scales. Due to rapid growth and increased analytical demand, there is a two-year backlog of work, making this an excellent opportunity for long-term engagement.
What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities
Work with FP&A stakeholders to understand business questions and translate them into technical requirements.
Build analytical assets and data products supporting forecasting, budgeting, and financial performance.
Write complex SQL queries to join, transform, and structure data from multiple sources.
Develop and maintain tables, pipelines, and notebooks in Databricks (Lakehouse / Delta architecture).
Work with loyalty, sales, and financial datasets to create consolidated analytical tables.
Collaborate with data product team members within a data mesh architecture.
Participate in agile ceremonies as part of the Finance Scrum team.
Support month-end processes and automate recurring FP&A workflows.
Build dashboards or visual insights using Tableau (nice to have).
What Success Looks Like
Delivering clean, reliable datasets for FP&A to support faster and more accurate financial decisions.
Reducing manual reporting by automating high-impact workflows.
Helping the finance team scale with data products that improve forecasting and visibility.
Enabling the business to make better decisions based on timely, high-quality insights.
Required Skills & Experience (Top Must-Haves)
3-5 years of hands-on data analytics experience.
Advanced SQL proficiency (writing complex joins, transformations, aggregations).
Experience working with Databricks (notebooks, workflows, Delta / Lakehouse).
Experience building analytical datasets end-to-end.
Nice-to-Have Experience
Python for data manipulation.
Prior FP&A or accounting experience.
Experience working within a data mesh architecture.
Familiarity with Tableau or other BI tools.
Experience in Snowflake (transferable skills).
Experience in financial services or finance data (industry is flexible).
Skills
Python, Sql, Databricks, Data analysis, Tableau, Sql queries, data mesh, sprint, jira, agile methodology
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Why This Role Is Exciting
Join a rapidly scaling analytics function with high executive visibility.
Work in a modern data environment (Databricks Lakehouse, data mesh).
Large backlog of meaningful, impactful work - immediate value to add.
Opportunity to extend long-term or transition to full-time if desired.
High autonomy and partnership with a small, high-performing team.
100% remote flexibility.
Additional Details
Reason for Opening:
Team realignment and increased demand from FP&A created additional workload beyond current capacity.
Business Impact:
This role directly supports financial decision-making, budget accuracy, forecasting, and the ability of the FP&A team to operate efficiently. Without this role, critical analytics initiatives will be delayed, reducing visibility and slowing insights to the business.
Urgency:
High - significant backlog and immediate needs within the Finance Scrum Team.
