The Platform Engineer will consult on complex, enterprise-wide platform engineering initiatives focused on Python ecosystems, CI/CD automation, and DevSecOps excellence. This role requires hands-on expertise and visible leadership within the open-source community. The engineer will define and drive standardized CI/CD patterns, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates, and golden-path repositories, while championing GitOps and performance measurement through DORA metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult on and lead complex platform engineering initiatives with broad organizational impact.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including advanced GitHub Actions.
- Establish and document golden-path repositories and standardized CI/CD patterns.
- Develop and promote Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates.
- Contribute to and collaborate on open-source projects such as Conda-Forge and Pixi.
- Evangelize DevSecOps and GitOps (EPLX) practices across engineering teams.
- Drive adoption of DORA metrics to measure and improve delivery performance.
- Collaborate with security, platform, and engineering stakeholders to ensure compliance.
- Solve complex, multi-faceted engineering challenges requiring innovation and long-term thinking.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, supporting complex, enterprise-scale engineering initiatives.
Technical Skills:- Demonstrable prior open-source contributions to Conda-Forge and Pixi Package Manager.
- Experience developing GitHub Actions and building CI/CD automation pipelines.
- 6+ years of Python development experience, including automation and scripting.
- Proven ability to establish CI/CD patterns, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates, and golden-path repositories.
- Experience promoting and implementing DevSecOps, GitOps (EPLX), and DORA metrics, with a focus on Conda-based Python ecosystems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevOps and SRE methodologies in large enterprise environments.
- Python expertise supporting machine learning workflows.
- Experience contributing to shared platform engineering standards across teams.
- Ability to influence engineering practices and drive adoption through enablement and evangelism.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $81.88 and $87.33 per hour. This is a contract position with a duration of 12 months. Further details regarding benefits will be provided to eligible candidates.
