Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary engineer for Microsoft Teams Phone, supporting enterprise voice services for non-call-center users.
- Configure and manage Teams calling policies, dial plans, number assignments, and voice-related settings.
- Support physical Teams phones, including onboarding to the network, firewall considerations, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot automation and scripting, primarily using PowerShell, with some exposure to Python, especially for workflows tied to ServiceNow and number provisioning.
- Collaborate closely with voice infrastructure, networking, security, and collaboration teams to ensure solutions align with Vanguard's highly segmented and compliance-driven environment.
- Serve as a technical translator-taking business or operational requests and mapping them to Teams configurations, policies, and supported solutions.
- Participate in operational support, outage response, and resiliency planning for Teams voice services.
Technical ProfileThe ideal candidate will bring:
- Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Teams Phone System.
- A solid Microsoft infrastructure background (Windows Server, M365 concepts), even if not directly owning adjacent platforms like Intune or compliance.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting skills; Python experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Comfort working in segmented enterprise networks with strict access controls and security requirements.
- The ability to troubleshoot across systems and understand how upstream and downstream dependencies impact Teams voice.
Role Scope & Mindset- This is a hands-on engineering role, not an architecture or strategy position.
- The engineer will function as an influencer and problem solver, working within an existing architecture rather than defining it.
