MDM Product Owner

Location: Hybrid; 4 days/week onsite in Houston, TX

Duration: Through 2/26/27, extensions likely

This senior-level Product Owner position focuses on driving enterprise Master Data Management initiatives that improve data quality, governance, stewardship, usability, and system integration across the organization. The role partners closely with business stakeholders, data governance teams, engineering, quality engineering, and enterprise system owners to define priorities, deliver scalable MDM capabilities, and support trusted business-ready data across complex enterprise environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Own and prioritize the MDM product roadmap, backlog, and delivery strategy in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Gather and translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable product deliverables.
  • Lead Agile activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, release reviews, and prioritization sessions.
  • Facilitate discussions between business teams, engineering, quality engineering, governance teams, and downstream system owners.
  • Define and support data standards, business rules, validation requirements, stewardship workflows, and data quality initiatives.
  • Analyze and profile data to identify quality issues, inconsistencies, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with technical teams to design, validate, and enhance MDM platform capabilities and workflows.
  • Define integration requirements between MDM and enterprise systems, including mappings, validation logic, transformation requirements, and error-handling processes.
  • Support troubleshooting of integration issues, synchronization failures, data mismatches, and validation exceptions.
  • Communicate product decisions, release impacts, risks, and priorities to both technical and business stakeholders.


Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Master Data Management, Data Management, Business Analysis, Data Governance, or Enterprise Systems delivery.
  • Experience managing product backlogs, writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and delivering solutions in Agile environments.
  • Strong understanding of Master Data Management concepts including data domains, hierarchies, governance, stewardship workflows, and data quality.
  • Experience making product decisions and aligning cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and business audiences.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and data analysis for profiling, validation, troubleshooting, and requirements clarification.
  • Understanding of enterprise integration patterns including APIs, batch interfaces, and file-based integrations.
  • Experience defining integration requirements, mappings, validation rules, error handling processes, and interface documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Stibo STEP MDM.
  • Exposure to Snowflake, dbt, MuleSoft, AWS Glue, S3, SFTP, Axway, or similar cloud and integration platforms.
  • Experience with data governance tools.
  • Experience with Jira, quality engineering coordination, user acceptance testing, and release management.
