Embedded Systems Engineer | Coopersville, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $127,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Coopersville seeking Embedded Systems Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and debug existing embedded systems in production environments.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with new and existing devices.
  • Implement and maintain communication protocols for industrial automation.
  • Optimize embedded system performance and reliability for continuous operation.
  • Develop and execute test plans for new and updated embedded systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing and field service teams.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems design and development, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in C/C++ programming for microcontrollers and microprocessors.
  • Strong understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal programming.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with hardware-software integration, debugging, and testing tools.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) beyond basic microcontroller-based systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus).
  • Demonstrated ability to debug hardware/software interactions using lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508) and their application in embedded systems.
