Job Description: AI Content Optimization Engineer

Role Summary

As a technical contributor supporting the modernization of People (HR) content for AI-powered experiences. This role partners with Enablement Architecture, Digital Experience, AI Architects, Engineering, Legal, and Security to help transform unstructured HR content into AI-ready, governed, and measurable knowledge assets.

The role focuses on hands-on design and implementation of content optimization pipelines, metadata standards, retrieval architectures, and evaluation mechanisms that improve AI accuracy, trust, and employee self-service outcomes.
Key Contributions & Responsibilities
AI-Ready Content Engineering
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of pipelines that ingest, normalize, and structure HR content for AI retrieval.
  • Transform unstructured documents (policies, SOPs, FAQs, guides) into structured or semi-structured formats suitable for parsing, chunking, and indexing.
  • Apply semantic chunking, embedding generation, and version-aware indexing techniques to support accurate and traceable AI responses.
  • Support deduplication, lineage tracking, and content freshness controls across the People content corpus.
Metadata, Information Architecture & Governance
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to apply standardized metadata schemas, tagging models, and content classification rules.
  • Support implementation of information architecture and authoring standards (headings, sections, tables, FAQs, review dates) that improve consistency and machine readability.
  • Translate governance decisions into system-enforced rules, validation checks, and pipeline constraints.
  • Contribute to taxonomy and entity modeling efforts that improve search, retrieval, and AI grounding.
Privacy, Security & Compliance Enablement
  • Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, and IT Security partners to ensure AI-enabled content handling follows organizational policies.
  • Support implementation of RBAC-aware retrieval, PII redaction, encryption, retention, and audit logging patterns.
  • Help validate that AI systems return only authorized, compliant content.
Retrieval Quality, Evaluation & Observability
  • Execute retrieval quality testing using golden question sets and human review rubrics.
  • Analyze precision, recall, answer faithfulness, and coverage to identify pipeline or content improvements.
  • Instrument logging and observability for query behavior, top failed intents, index freshness, and privacy audits.
  • Use telemetry and user feedback to continuously improve content health and retrieval accuracy.
Launch Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Support pilot launches and controlled rollouts of AI-enabled HR content experiences.
  • Contribute to training materials, runbooks, and enablement assets for content authors and support teams.
  • Participate in ongoing review cadences with content owners, HR Ops, and data teams.
  • Support scaling efforts by automating re-indexing, expanding corpus coverage, and integrating with HR chatbots, assistants, and enterprise search.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
  • Hands-on experience contributing to AI-ready content or retrieval systems in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Information architecture and content structuring
  • Metadata, taxonomy, and content classification
  • Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or enterprise search concepts
  • Experience applying semantic chunking, embeddings, and indexing techniques.
  • Familiarity with privacy-safe AI patterns, including permissions, PII handling, and auditability.
  • Proven ability to work as a lead contributor in matrixed, cross-functional teams.
Preferred
  • Experience with vector search, AI evaluation metrics, or content health monitoring.
  • Exposure to governance operating models and standards adoption.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills to translate technical work into shared understanding.

Technical Skills: 1. AI-Ready Content Engineering & Retrieval Systems

2. Information Architecture, Metadata & Taxonomy Application

3. Privacy-Safe AI & Governance Enablement

4. Retrieval Quality Evaluation & Observability
