Summary

Position: Systems Integration Architect

Duration: 11 months+ contract

Location: Remote/WFH/Travel First week onsite in Akron, OH

 

Overall Description:

  • The Systems Integration Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing end‑to‑end data integration across core platforms within a regional Power & Utilities ecosystem.
  • This role provides architectural leadership to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between key operational systems such as SAP (ERP/IS‑U), Maximo, Crew Management systems, Enterprise Asset Management platforms (e.g., LAMP/Cascade), Outage Management Systems, GIS, and other foundational enterprise applications.
  • The architect will partner with business leaders, IT teams, operations, and vendor partners to define integration patterns, establish data standards, and ensure that system interfaces support reliability, asset performance, regulatory compliance, and long‑term technology strategy.
  • This role blends deep technical acumen with strong domain experience in utility operations and enterprise systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Integration Architecture & Design

  • Have a deep understanding of power and utilities asset management processes such as inspection and maintenance data flows
  • Design and maintain the enterprise integration architecture for data flows across SAP, Maximo, Cascade, Crew Management systems, and other operational platforms.
  • Define canonical data models and govern integration standards, APIs, and middleware usage.
  • Select and apply integration patterns (API‑based, event‑driven, ETL/ELT, messaging, batch) aligned to business and system requirements.
  • Develop architectural diagrams, data flow maps, and integration documentation to support solution clarity and alignment.

Systems & Data Integration:

  • Architect and oversee integrations between asset management, work management, financial, supply chain, field operations, and reliability systems.
  • Ensure data synchronization across systems for assets, crews, work orders, inspections, outages, and maintenance activities.
  • Work with data integration teams, middleware engineers, and application owners to build secure, performant, scalable interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and recommend remediation strategies.
  • Develop application migration strategies that move new or upgraded applications through development and test environments while supplying data to support integration, system, performance, and user acceptance testing.

Project Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Provide architectural leadership on large enterprise programs (ERP upgrades, EAM implementations, grid modernization, mobile workforce, etc.).
  • Translate business requirements into technical integration specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including operations, engineering, finance, IT, vendors, and system integrators.
  • Present architecture proposals, trade‑off analyses, and solution recommendations to technical and executive stakeholders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems integration, enterprise architecture, or similar technical leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of integration across key Power & Utilities platforms such as SAP, Maximo, Cascade, and Crew Management systems.
  • Experience with integration technologies and patterns (APIs, ESB, ETL/ELT, messaging, event streaming).
  • Proven ability to create architecture documentation and integration standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and manage application migration strategies that move new or upgraded applications through development and testing environments while supporting data requirements for integration, system, performance, and user acceptance testing.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in the energy or utilities sectors.
  • Familiarity with GIS, OMS, SCADA, and other operational technologies.
  • Cloud integration experience (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Certifications such as TOGAF, ITIL, or SAP Integration.
  • Experience with data governance, MDM, and enterprise data strategies.
