Summary

Technical BSA

This is an opportunity to bring your technical analysis, SQL, insurance systems, UAT, and product delivery experience into a major modernization environment where your work will directly influence how business users, technology teams, and enterprise systems operate together.

You will support high-impact modernization work across insurance applications, data, reporting, UAT, product delivery, and cross-functional technology teams working onsite with the technical IT teams either in the Sacramento, CA or Plano, Tx offices.

This role is ideal for a true Technical BSA not a purely functional BA who understands how systems work, can write clear technical requirements, and can partner confidently with developers, architects, product owners, DevOps, QA, and data teams. Strong SQL is required, including the ability to write queries and joins from scratch, analyze data, and support reporting/dashboard needs using SQL and data visualization tools.

The strongest candidates will bring insurance domain experience in P&C, Life Insurance, Workers Compensation, claims, policy, billing, underwriting, or related insurance platforms. Candidates who started their careers in development, data, QA, or technical systems roles and later moved into Business Systems Analysis are especially well aligned.

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst with experience in the Insurance domain (P&C, Life Insurance, or Workers Compensation) to collaborate with product owners, IT teams, and business stakeholders. This role focuses on gathering requirements, designing system solutions, and leading testing efforts, with a strong emphasis on SQL and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners, IT teams, and stakeholders to gather and document business requirements
  • Conduct interviews, workshops, and document analysis for system enhancements and new solutions
  • Analyze existing systems and workflows to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Develop functional specifications, system design requirements, and workflow diagrams
  • Partner with architects, developers, and DevOps teams to design scalable solutions
  • Support project planning, including timelines, scope definition, and resource estimation
  • Participate in project implementation and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Conduct system testing, including functional, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Define acceptance criteria and ensure quality deliverables
  • Lead UAT sessions and ensure alignment with business and technical requirements
  • Act as a liaison between IT and business teams to ensure clear communication
  • Provide training and support to end-users on system functionalities
  • Collaborate with data teams to ensure accurate data integration and reporting
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using SQL and data visualization tools
  • Coordinate product releases with DevOps, release management, and support teams
  • Monitor product performance post-launch and implement improvements
  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as SOX and PCI-DSS
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to ensure application security
  • Support audits, risk assessments, and disaster recovery planning
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role
  • Experience in Insurance domain (P&C, Life Insurance, or Workers Compensation)
  • Strong SQL experience
  • Experience with low code platforms
  • Experience with data visualization tools (preferred)
  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, or containerization technologies
  • Certifications such as CSPO, PSPO, or SAFe

Skills Needed

  • Knowledge of automation tools, monitoring, and logging platforms
  • Proficiency with business analysis tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart)
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., ADO, Jira, Asana)
  • Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills
  • Understanding of ERP/CRM systems and business processes
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Adaptability to new systems and technologies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
