Description

We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join our team in Brunswick, Georgia. This contract-to-permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the deployment, operation, and optimization of advanced networking solutions. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies to support Layer 2 and Layer 3 network operations, with a focus on enhancing connectivity and reliability.

Responsibilities:
Deploy and maintain Calix, Juniper, and Nokia routing and switching systems in data center and distribution environments.
Manage the delivery of Layer 2 transport services to communities and ensure effective Layer 3 routing at Points of Presence (POPs), including redundancy and failover.
Contribute to network design, operations, and optimization, focusing on peering, traffic engineering, and system resiliency.
Implement IPv4 and IPv6 strategies in collaboration with network architects and leadership teams.
Ensure operational readiness by developing monitoring systems, alert mechanisms, documentation, and maintenance procedures.
Participate in on-call rotations to address outages, oversee planned maintenance, and lead incident response efforts.
Support the integration of MPLS and VLAN configurations to enhance network efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement in network performance and reliability through proactive troubleshooting and optimization.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent practical experience in Layer 2/Layer 3 network operations.
A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, preferably in an ISP or telecom environment.
Proficiency in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols, including VLANs, MPLS, QoS, and routing.
Hands-on experience with Calix, Juniper, or Nokia systems is highly preferred, with a willingness to quickly certify or learn if needed.
Familiarity with IPv4 and IPv6 network configurations and associated strategies.
Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, and other routing protocols in production environments.
Excellent documentation skills and adherence to disciplined change management processes.
Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and implement effective solutions.
