Job Description
We are looking for an experienced SAP BW/4HANA Data Tiering Optimization Architect to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-level data tiering and archiving strategies.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with SAP BW/4HANA, Data Tiering Optimization (DTO), aDSOs, partitioning, and Hot, Warm, and Cold data storage strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement end-to-end SAP BW/4HANA Data Tiering Optimization architecture.
Assess data volumes, usage patterns, aDSOs, partitioning structures, and retention requirements.
Define Hot, Warm, and Cold data management strategies.
Configure DTO properties, storage connections, data movement rules, and retention policies.
Implement data partitioning based on fiscal periods, posting dates, and calendar periods.
Integrate DTO processes with BW data loads, process chains, and housekeeping activities.
Lead pilot implementations and enterprise-wide rollout.
Ensure historical reporting continuity across all storage tiers.
Perform data reconciliation, regression testing, and performance optimization.
Coordinate with SAP Basis, HANA, infrastructure, reporting, security, and business teams.
Lead the overall BW/4HANA archiving program and provide technical leadership.
Prepare architecture documentation, implementation plans, and operational runbooks.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with SAP BW/4HANA architecture and implementation.
Deep expertise in Data Tiering Optimization (DTO).
Strong experience with Advanced DataStore Objects (aDSOs).
Expertise in data partitioning and Hot/Warm/Cold data architectures.
Working knowledge of SAP HANA Native Storage Extension (NSE) and Extension Node.
Experience with SAP IQ or SAP HANA Cloud data lake relational engine.
Strong knowledge of CompositeProviders, BW Queries, and process chains.
Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud and Analysis for Microsoft Office.
Understanding of data lifecycle management, archiving, retention, and housekeeping.
Strong stakeholder management, architecture documentation, and project leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large-scale SAP BW/4HANA data-volume optimization and archiving projects.
Experience migrating SAP BW on HANA to SAP BW/4HANA.
SAP BW/4HANA or SAP HANA certification.
Experience working in enterprise environments with compliance and historical reporting requirements.
