Role Overview
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support our client by performing LAN and Wi-Fi monitoring and support. This role involves independent work with minimal guidance. This position requires extensive travel, 50% or greater. When not traveling, the resource will be required to be on-site in Raleigh, NC, with a hybrid schedule that is subject to change. Teams travel to sites across the country for surveys, installations, and network upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to remote sites for survey, installation, and upgrade of network equipment.
- Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex LAN/Wireless issues.
- Configure and support wireless systems, including architecture design and implementation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Tier 2 LAN Engineers.
- Design, implement, and manage LAN/Wireless infrastructure projects.
- Perform network performance monitoring and optimization.
- Develop and maintain network documentation and diagrams.
- Configure OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, and Static routing solutions.
- Plan and schedule upgrades, mitigating vulnerabilities affecting switches.
- Provide support for firewalls and load balancing.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 8 years of IT work experience are required. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of applicable network experience and support is necessary. Candidates must have experience with LAN design, implementation, and management for large facilities. Experience with Ekahau or other Wi-Fi site survey tools is required. The role also requires experience with wireless solutions such as Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba, Juniper Mist, and Fortinet.
Technical Skills: Expertise in LAN protocols, technologies, and architecture design is required. Candidates must be capable of installing, configuring, operating, and supporting Cisco and other vendor network equipment. Skills in reading syslog output, sniffer logs, and security logs are necessary. Proficiency is also needed in configuring networking parameters for operating systems and network devices.
Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance. This requires being a or Permanent Resident who has resided in the US for the last 5 years and has not traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in that period.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $30.00 and $38.00 per hour. For this position, there will be one bill rate regardless of hours worked in a day and/or workweek.
