Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Steward with strong Insurance Brokerage domain expertise to support enterprise data governance, data quality, and master/reference data initiatives. The role is responsible for ensuring data accuracy, consistency, compliance, and usability across core insurance brokerage data domains, enabling effective reporting, analytics, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

The Data Steward will act as the business custodian of data, working closely with business stakeholders, data owners, IT, analytics, and compliance teams to operationalize data governance policies and data quality standards across the organization.

Experience & Background

  • 8-12+ years of overall experience in Data, Analytics, or Data Governance roles
  • Strong handson experience as a Data Steward or equivalent governance role
  • Mandatory domain experience in:
    • Insurance Brokerage
    • Wholesale Insurance
    • Managing General Agent (MGA)
    • Specialty Insurance

Roles & Responsibilities

Data Stewardship & Governance

  • Act as Data Steward for assigned insurance data domains, including:
    • Client
    • Policy
    • Submission
    • Carrier
    • Broker
    • Producer
    • Program
    • Coverage
  • Define and maintain business definitions, data standards, and data rules aligned with enterprise governance frameworks
  • Partner with Data Owners to support data accountability, issue prioritization, and resolution
  • Ensure data usage aligns with regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements relevant to insurance brokerage operations

Data Quality Management

  • Define, document, and monitor data quality rules and KPIs, including:
    • Completeness
    • Accuracy
    • Timeliness
    • Consistency
  • Review data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate remediation with business and technology teams
  • Support implementation of preventive and detective data quality controls across source systems and downstream platforms
  • Track and report data quality metrics and trends to data governance forums and councils

Metadata, Lineage & Documentation

  • Maintain business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata for assigned data domains
  • Validate and support data lineage and traceability, especially for regulatory and reporting use cases
  • Ensure consistent documentation across source systems, data platforms, and analytics outputs

Insurance Brokerage Domain Alignment

  • Apply strong understanding of insurance brokerage workflows, including:
    • Submissions, placement, binding, and endorsements
    • Policy lifecycle management
    • Carrier relationships and commission structures
    • Client, account, and program hierarchies
  • Support data readiness for:
    • Executive and operational reporting
    • Carrier and market reporting
    • Regulatory and compliance requirements
    • Advanced analytics, data science, and AI initiatives

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Architects, Data Engineers, BI teams, and Compliance stakeholders
  • Participate in data governance councils, working groups, and design reviews
  • Support onboarding of new data domains and initiatives into the enterprise data platform
