Title: SQL Database Administrator
Location: Westlake, OH (Onsite)

Compensation: $90,000 - $155,000 (commensurate with experience)

Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Database Administrator (SQL Server) to support and optimize enterprise database environments in a high-volume production setting. This role will be responsible for ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability across critical systems, with a strong emphasis on performance tuning, query optimization, and high availability.
This is a highly visible position where you'll take ownership of database health and play a key role in supporting business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server environments across multiple production systems
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and configuration improvements
- Design and maintain database structures, storage strategies, and capacity planning
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, availability, and data integrity
- Develop and maintain T-SQL scripts, automation processes, and maintenance jobs
- Implement and support backup, recovery, and high availability solutions (Always On, clustering, log shipping)
- Apply database patches, upgrades, and security best practices
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve application performance and scalability
- Document database configurations, processes, and procedures
Required Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments (level dependent)
- Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
- Advanced proficiency in T-SQL scripting and SQL Server Agent job automation
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On, failover clustering, log shipping)
- Hands-on experience with backup and recovery strategies
- Strong troubleshooting skills across performance, stability, and data integrity issues
- Solid understanding of database security and best practices
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting high-transaction or high-volume database environments
- Exposure to job scheduling or automation tools (e.g., ActiveBatch)
- Familiarity with infrastructure or cloud environments
