An ISU (Industry Solution Utilities) Functional Lead in SAP is a senior expert who bridges business needs and technical solutions, leading teams to configure, implement, and support the SAP IS-U system for utility companies, focusing on areas like billing, device management, customer service, and FICA, ensuring efficient utility operations and managing project lifecycles from design to deployment and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Design & Configuration: Translates utility business requirements (e.g., meter-to-cash, billing, customer service) into functional designs, configures SAP IS-U modules, and creates functional specifications.
  • Team Leadership: Guides onshore/offshore teams, reviews deliverables, manages timelines, and provides expert guidance on complex functional issues.
  • : Leads workshops, communicates with business users and IT stakeholders, and presents solution demonstrations.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Oversees Unit Testing (UT), System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new releases and changes.
  • Support & Maintenance: Manages post-production support, incident resolution, problem analysis, and ensures system availability (often 24x7).
  • Integration: Works with other SAP moduls (FI, SD, CRM) and external systems (MDM, AMI).

Core Skillset

  • Deep expertise in SAP IS-U modules (Device Management, Billing, FICA, Customer Service).
  • Strong understanding of utility business processes and regulations.
  • Functional specification writing and technical documentation.
  • Experience with Agile/ITIL methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
