Description Design Manager - Industrial / Construction Projects
Location: Austin, TX 78758
Work Arrangement: Standard business hours (CST; occasional off-hours coordination as needed)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead design coordination and management efforts for large-scale industrial and facility projects. This role is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of design deliverables, ensuring alignment between engineering firms, developers, and internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in design management, construction coordination, and project scheduling, along with the ability to manage complex design packages, enforce quality standards, and drive execution across multidisciplinary teams. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can operate effectively in fast-paced, enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management & Coordination
- Lead oversight of design deliverables, submissions, and revisions across projects
- Coordinate between engineering firms, developers, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure alignment across disciplines, identifying and resolving coordination gaps
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Perform QA/QC reviews of design packages and technical documentation
- Establish and enforce design standards and best practices
- Maintain design change logs and assess downstream impacts
Project Scheduling & Execution
- Track design schedules, milestones, and deliverables
- Support large-scale program execution with strong scheduling discipline
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines
Documentation & Change Management
- Maintain detailed documentation of design changes and revisions
- Analyze impacts of design modifications on construction and downstream activities
- Support consistency across all design artifacts and deliverables
Requirements Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in design management within construction, industrial, or facility projects
- Proven experience coordinating across engineering firms, developers, and stakeholders
- Strong experience with project scheduling and design package review
- Deep knowledge of QA/QC processes and design coordination
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large enterprise organizations
- Background in robotics, industrial, or large-scale construction environments
- Experience working with globally recognized companies or large infrastructure programs
- Strong tenure demonstrating stability and long-term project ownership
