Job Title: SAP Payroll Functional Architect – HR Integration

Location: Remote

Duration: 6+ Months


Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAP Payroll Functional Architect with strong expertise in HR integrations to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of payroll solutions within SAP landscapes. This role requires deep knowledge of SAP Payroll (US) along with integration experience connecting HR systems, finance, and third-party vendors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end SAP Payroll solution architecture and design
  • Architect and implement integrations between SAP HCM Payroll / SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll and external systems
  • Analyze complex payroll requirements and translate them into scalable SAP solutions
  • Design integration frameworks using:
    • SAP CPI / PI/PO
    • IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, APIs, Web Services
  • Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing across regions (Global)
  • Integrate SAP Payroll with:
    • Time & Attendance systems
    • Benefits providers
    • Tax systems
    • Finance (FI/CO) modules
  • Lead payroll schema, rules, and configuration design
  • Oversee payroll data migration, reconciliation, and validation
  • Drive UAT, SIT, parallel payroll runs, and go-live activities
  • Provide leadership for payroll transformation and system upgrades (ECC → S/4HANA / SuccessFactors)
  • Troubleshoot payroll and integration issues in production environments

Required Skills & Experience

  • 12+ years of SAP experience with strong focus on SAP Payroll
  • Proven experience as a Functional Architect / Lead Consultant
  • Deep expertise in:
    • SAP Payroll (US and/or Global Payroll)
    • Payroll schemas, rules, wage types
    • Personnel Administration (PA)
    • Organizational Management (OM)
    • Time Management
  • Strong hands-on experience in HR & Payroll integrations
  • Expertise in:
    • SAP CPI / PI-PO
    • IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs
    • APIs and Web Services
  • Experience integrating with:
    • Third-party payroll vendors (ADP, Ceridian, etc.)
    • Tax and compliance systems
    • Banking/payment interfaces
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, taxation, and statutory requirements
  • Experience in data migration and payroll reconciliation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP)
  • Exposure to S/4HANA HCM or Payroll Control Center
  • SAP HCM / Payroll Certification
  • Experience in multi-country payroll implementations
  • Knowledge of cloud integration platforms

Soft Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Ability to lead cross-functional and global teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience with payroll transformation programs
  • Familiarity with Workday payroll integrations
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance (GDPR, etc.)
