Summary

Position: Sr. UX Researcher
Duration: Through 12/31/2026 (with potential extension)
Schedule: Hybrid, 3 days/week in one of the XD hub offices (CLT, NJ, NY, BOS, SF, SEA)
Interview Process: 2 steps

Project Areas: Consumer small banking experiences, virtual assistant/chatbots, and other customer-facing digital products.

Top Skills Required
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise environments; financial services preferred
  • Strong competency in both generative and evaluative research methods, including usability studies, concept testing, iterative testing, and synthesizing findings into clear recommendations
  • Excellent presentation skills with polished, professional communication
  • Figma and mobile (iOS/Android) experience strongly preferred

Role Overview

In this role, you'll design, conduct, and deliver research that shapes digital experiences across web, mobile, and native applications. You will gather and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to reveal user needs, behaviors, and motivations-enabling product and design teams to make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional product and design teams to define research plans grounded in business and design goals
  • Conduct a wide range of qualitative and quantitative studies, including usability testing, heuristic evaluations, interviews, contextual inquiries, surveys, benchmarking, diary studies, and longitudinal research
  • Produce strong research deliverables, such as briefs, screeners, test plans, analyses, heuristic reviews, and reports
  • Communicate findings clearly and consistently using visual artifacts that make insights accessible across the organization

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in design strategy and user research
  • Experience researching across desktop, mobile web, and native iOS/Android applications
  • Proficiency with tools such as UserZoom/UserTesting, dscout, Qualtrics, and other research platforms
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Figma
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices and ability to make research-backed design recommendations
  • Experience with ethnographic, lab-based, and remote qualitative/quantitative research
  • Expertise across research methods, tools, and frameworks (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Experience researching for diverse ecosystems across digital and physical touchpoints
  • Strong foundation in Design Thinking, persona creation, journey mapping, and human-centered design
  • Ability to balance user needs with business and technical constraints when designing research plans
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to inspire teams through challenges
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate findings into actionable design insights
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to lead cross-functional research efforts
  • Confident in evaluating and challenging existing customer experiences
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational abilities

  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and design systems

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
