Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled AWS FinOps Engineer with 5 10 years of experience in cloud cost management, financial operations, and AWS spend optimization.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in AWS billing analytics, forecasting, cost governance, commitment planning, reporting dashboards, and chargeback/showback models.
This role requires close collaboration with engineering, finance, and business stakeholders to drive cloud cost visibility, accountability, and optimization initiatives across AWS environments.
AWS-native FinOps practices commonly center on Cost Explorer, CUR, Budgets, cost allocation tags, and showback/chargeback reporting, which aligns directly with this role.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Cost Visibility & Analytics
- Monitor and analyze AWS cloud spend using:
- AWS Cost Explorer
- AWS Budgets
- Cost & Usage Reports (CUR)
- Identify:
- cost trends
- anomalies
- waste patterns
- optimization opportunities
- Create daily / weekly / monthly cost reports
- Provide actionable spend insights to stakeholders
AWS Cost Explorer provides cost visualization, trend analysis, and forecasting capabilities, making it a core FinOps tool.
Cost Optimization & Commitment Management
- Optimize AWS spend using:
- Savings Plans
- Reserved Instances
- Spot Instances
- Perform workload analysis for:
- utilization
- coverage
- commitment recommendations
- Implement rightsizing strategies for:
- EC2
- RDS
- EBS
- Kubernetes workloads
- Recommend purchase strategies based on usage patterns
Commitment planning and rightsizing are standard AWS FinOps optimization practices.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Build cloud cost budgets aligned with business goals
- Create forecasting models using historical usage trends
- Define:
- monthly budgets
- project-level cost limits
- department-level spend targets
- Configure budget alerts and anomaly notifications
Cost forecasting and budget alarms are core AWS cost management capabilities.
Chargeback / Showback
- Design and implement:
- chargeback models
- showback frameworks
- Allocate costs across:
- teams
- applications
- cost centers
- business units
- Support financial accountability and cost ownership
Chargeback and showback are considered best-practice FinOps maturity steps.
Reporting & Dashboards
- Develop dashboards and executive reports using:

- Build KPI reporting for:

Automation & Governance
- Develop automated cost-control workflows
- Automate:

- Use Python / SQL for data processing and reporting automation
Tagging Strategy & Cost Allocation
- Define and enforce tagging standards
- Implement mandatory tags such as:
