About the Role
Innovar Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Mechanical to support large-scale data center construction projects in the Cheyenne, Wyoming area. This role is focused on mechanical scope management and requires a project leader with strong hands-on experience managing mechanical construction activities in data center environments.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of focused mechanical project management experience and direct data center experience. This person will be responsible for helping drive mechanical scope execution, coordination, documentation, schedule performance, and communication across field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Manage mechanical scopes on large-scale data center construction projects.

Oversee mechanical construction activities including HVAC, piping, plumbing, cooling systems, and related infrastructure.

Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, engineering teams, commissioning teams, and client stakeholders.

Track project schedules, deliverables, submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement items, and field documentation.

Monitor field progress and identify risks, delays, or coordination issues that may impact schedule, quality, or cost.

Ensure mechanical work is completed in alignment with drawings, specifications, project requirements, and design intent.

Support commissioning readiness by ensuring mechanical systems are properly installed, documented, and prepared for testing and turnover.

Lead project meetings, communicate priorities, and follow up on action items.

Manage project documentation, reporting, and status updates for assigned mechanical scopes.

Partner with field leadership to resolve issues quickly and keep work moving.

Support safety, quality, productivity, and accountability across mechanical trade activities.
Required Qualifications

5+ years of focused mechanical project management experience.

Direct data center construction experience is required.

Strong experience managing mechanical scopes on complex construction projects.

Knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing, cooling systems, and mechanical infrastructure.

Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, field teams, engineering, and commissioning teams.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.

Experience tracking RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, schedules, and closeout documentation.

Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills.

Ability to identify issues, drive resolution, and maintain accountability across project teams.

Ability to work onsite in the Cheyenne, WY area.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, or multi-building data center campus projects.

Experience with mission-critical mechanical systems and high-availability environments.

Familiarity with commissioning, turnover, and closeout requirements for data center projects.

Experience working with construction management software, scheduling tools, and project documentation platforms.

Strong understanding of construction sequencing and coordination across MEP trades.
