About the Role

Innovar Group is seeking an Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical to support large-scale mechanical construction activities on data center and mission-critical construction projects in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This is a direct hire opportunity for someone with mechanical construction experience who is ready to support project execution, coordination, documentation, and communication across active job sites.

The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and client teams to help keep mechanical scopes organized, on schedule, and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical project execution from planning through construction, commissioning readiness, and turnover.

  • Assist with coordination of mechanical scopes, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, cooling systems, and related infrastructure.

  • Track project schedules, deliverables, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and field documentation.

  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, engineering teams, and commissioning teams.

  • Help monitor field progress, identify potential issues, and communicate updates to project leadership.

  • Review drawings, specifications, project documents, and construction schedules.

  • Support procurement tracking, material coordination, and vendor follow-up.

  • Assist with meeting preparation, meeting notes, action item tracking, and project reporting.

  • Help ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in alignment with project requirements.

  • Support closeout, turnover documentation, and commissioning readiness activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting mechanical construction projects as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or similar role.

  • Mechanical construction knowledge, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, or related building systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.

  • Experience tracking RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, or construction documentation.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with field teams, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

  • Strong follow-through and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Ability to work onsite in the Cheyenne, WY area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial construction projects.

  • Familiarity with mechanical systems in high-availability environments.

  • Experience with commissioning readiness, turnover, or closeout documentation.

  • Experience working with construction management platforms, scheduling tools, or project documentation systems.

  • Background supporting multi-building campus projects or fast-paced technical construction environments.
