Controls Engineer | Holt, MI

Salary Range: $81,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and tests control systems and software for manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues with existing control systems, automation, and robotics.
• Implements and optimizes PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming for production equipment.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with mechanical and electrical designs.
• Develops and maintains technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and software specifications.
• Participates in the commissioning and startup of new equipment and production lines.
• Ensures compliance with safety standards and industry regulations for control systems.
• Provides technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.) and HMI/SCADA development within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of industrial control systems, robotics, and automation principles.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus) and data acquisition.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Ignition SCADA development
• Familiarity with robotic systems (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka) and their integration
• Proficiency in SQL database management and data analysis for process optimization
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems
