Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe organization operates within a highly regulated environment and utilizes a combination of on-premises, cloud, and hybrid encryption platforms to safeguard customer and corporate data. This role requires a hands-on security professional capable of translating encryption concepts into practical guidance, supporting stakeholders, and promoting consistent adoption of approved encryption services. The primary focus of this position is to oversee the governance of processes and platforms that enable encryption at scale, while providing direction to users of enterprise encryption technologies.
Primary Responsibilities- Plan, prioritize, and monitor governance initiatives; develop status dashboards and executive-level updates.
- Track program risks and issues through resolution.
- Develop reference architectures to guide application and technology owners toward approved encryption solutions.
- Maintain a catalog of on-premises PKI, cloud KMS, tokenization, TDE, and related services.
- Draft and update enterprise encryption standards aligned with industry benchmarks and audit requirements.
- Produce clear documentation, including explainers, demonstrations, and FAQs for application teams.
- Conduct onboarding sessions to educate application owners on key-management lifecycles and available HSM/KMS options.
Required Qualifications- Project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience with PKI administration and digital certificate lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of cryptographic principles and security protocols.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in a financial institution or other highly regulated industry with a focus on risk reduction.
- Familiarity with PCI requirements.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations.
Education and Additional Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field (e.g., Data Management, Computer Science, Information Technology).
- Strong understanding of certificate lifecycles, key-custodian responsibilities, and cryptographic best practices.
- Experience implementing PKI and enterprise key-management platforms (e.g., Microsoft AD CS, Entrust, AWS KMS, HashiCorp Vault).
- Proven ability to develop security standards and policies and to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated organizational and coordination skills, including managing multiple workstreams, dependencies, and metrics.
